  1. Univariate analysis and multivariate linear regression models were carried out to assess the gene expression signal intensity in permissive underfeeding compared to standard feeding. In the multivariate model, we adjusted for age, the ratio of partial pressure of oxygen to the fraction of inspired oxygen (PaO2/FiO2) ratio and Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) scores.
