Graphic summary of the study. This study primarily assessed the blood pressure change after different acupoint treatments. A high-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry platform was used to analyse the key plasma metabolites of hypertensive patients. The PCA and PLS-DA models were used to identify the most important features leading to the separation of metabolic phenotypes. This study shows that metabolomics methods are a potential tool to differentiate the effect of active acupoints versus inactive acupoints.
