SERT−/− mice have altered abundance of Akkermansia, Bacilli, and Bifidobacterium species. (A) Heat map of differentially abundant species between SERT+/+ and SERT−/− mice. Bacterial relative abundances were log10 transformed for visualization. Differential abundance testing was performed by likelihood ratio test (DESeq. 2), adjusted p < 0.1 (Benjamini-Hochberg multiple testing correction) was considered significant. Hierarchal clustering was used to separate samples based on abundances of differentially abundant bacteria. Fisher’s exact test was used to determine if SERT+/+ and SERT−/− mice were significantly discriminated by hierarchal clustering, p < 0.05 was considered significant.
