LPS profiles of E. coli 4 s (line 1) and its mutants, selected for resistance to the phage LAMP (lines 2–7). Note that one of the mutants (line 6) produces a lot of single LPS molecules with a O-unit with very low amount of longer OPS molecules. Phage LAMP, just as phiKT phage, depends on the initial O-antigen recognition for all subsequent events of the host cell infection.
