Effects of rv1222 over-expression on relative amount of mRNA levels of different genes. Values are expressed as a ratio between the number of cDNA copies detected by quantitative RT–PCR in samples obtained from exponentially growing TB515 (overexpressing rv1222) and its parental strain H37Rv. Data were normalized to the level of sigA cDNA, that represented the internal invariant control. The reported values derive from two independent experiments. **P < 0.01 versus wt (Student’s t-test).
