DHE staining intensity in the retinal ganglion cell layer (RGCL, A), the inner nuclear layer (INL, B) and the outer nuclear layer (ONL, C) in aged wild-type and M1R−/− mice. DHE staining intensity was markedly elevated in the RGCL of aged M1R−/− mice (*P < 0.05) suggesting higher ROS levels.
