Schematic of the in-line phase-contrast imaging experimental layout. (a) A phase-contrast image of a small fish (1-cm long). The whole image was generated by 5 sub-images taken separately, and each sub-image was obtained by accumulation of 20 exposures. (b) Edge lineout for the back-fin marked by small red box in (a) showing a clear edge enhancement characteristic of PCI.
