(A) Effect of microsurgical liver cholestasis (LC) on PKA activity in rat mesenteric resistance arteries. Results (means ± S.E.M.) are expressed in optical density (OD) units/μg protein. n = 8 animals each group. (B) Western blot analysis for PI3K and total and phosphorylated AKT in the T308 residue (P-AKT) in mesenteric resistance arteries from Sham-Operated (SO) and LC rats. Each lane is representative of 8 isolated arterial segments from different animals in each group. A rat brain homogenate was used as a positive control (+C). Lower panel shows densitometric analyses for the expression of each protein. Results (mean ± S.E.M.) were expressed as the relation between the signal obtained for the protein analysed and the signal obtained for β-actin.
