The effect of applying a pressure cuff on the time-course of envenomation. Mean serum venom concentration measured before and at set times after subcutaneous hind paw injection of PTx venom at 0.15 mg/ml without (control) and with a 50 mm Hg pressure cuff. Serum venom concentrations were determined from 0.2 ml blood samples taken at the times shown. Data shown as mean ± SEM (#P < 0.0001, +P < 0.001; **P < 0.01, two-way ANOVA and unpaired multiple two-tailed t-test; n = 6 control, n = 4 cuff all points).
