Variation in turning point. (A) The pupil diameter ratio was calculated using Eq. 5 using D = 0.98, E = 1.14, and β values of −8 and −2. (B) In each of 30 subjects, Mathur and colleagues (2013) measured the viewing angle at which the peak pupil diameter ratio was observed (β), and related that value to the spherical refractive error of the subject. These data points (gray) are shown, along with the linear relationship between spherical error and turning point (blank line). Also shown are the turning point values returned by the current model when supplied with an eye of varying refractive error (red line).
