Confocal laser scanning microscope images of M145 exposed to different sizes and concentrations of particles for 24 h (CK: control without any particles, BPs: bulk particles). Cells were stained with SYTO 9 (living cells are stained green) and PI (dead cells stained red) before observing them under a microscope. Images of all the stained samples were captured at comparable cell concentrations. The scale of each image was 3.9 mm × 3.9 mm, objective amplification was 10×, and the setting was consistent among the images.
