From: Odors from phylogenetically-distant plants to Brassicaceae repel an herbivorous Brassica specialist

Responses of female swede midge (Contarinia nasturtii) to brassica meristems with 1 mL of 1% diluted essential oils (treated) or 1 mL of deionized water (untreated) in olfactometer trials (N = 30). Essential oils (y-axis) are ordered based on phylogenetic distance calculated for each of the essential oils using the concatenated matK/rbcL chloroplast sequences (z16 = 16.05, SE = 1.29, P < 0.05). Asterisks represent significant results from binomial exact tests, with the left indicating that the treated arm was chosen more frequently and the right the control. Whiskers represent standard error.
