From: Nuclear and cytoplasmic WDR-23 isoforms mediate differential effects on GEN-1 and SKN-1 substrates

WDR-23 isoforms regulate GEN-1 and/or SKN-1 stability and activity. Model for the coordination between the nuclear and cytoplasmic isoforms of WDR-23-mediated regulation of its substrates. Cytoplasmic WDR-23A activity results in activation of substrates, while nuclear WDR-23B drives turnover of substrates to the proteasome. The activity of cytoplasmic (activating) and nuclear (repressive) WDR-23 on its substrates may be linked to mono- or poly-ubiquitination, respectively.
