From: Lyssavirus matrix protein cooperates with phosphoprotein to modulate the Jak-Stat pathway

RABVs with mutated P and/or M proteins display enhanced activation of the IFN-pathway compared with wild-type RABV. STING37 cells, which are stably transfected with ISRE promoter-dependent luciferase reporter gene, were infected with wild-type (Tha) RABV or RABV mutated for P- and/or M-mutated protein (Th2P, Th4M, Th2P-4M) RABVs. IFNα (1000 U/mL, 24 h) was added (grey) or not (black) 24 h post-infection. Two days post-transfection, firefly luciferase activity, which is indicative of ISRE-promoter activity, was determined. Results are expressed as the means ± standard deviation (T-bars) of three independent experiments. *p < 0.05.
