Celastrol suppresses the potassium efflux induced by ATP and nigericin in primary macrophages. Primary mouse macrophages were primed with LPS (100 ng/ml) for 4 hr. The cells were treated with celastrol for 1 hr and then stimulated with (A) ATP (5 mM) or (B) nigericin (10 μM) together with potassium binding benzofuran isophthalate (PBFI)-tetraammonium salt for 1 hr.
