Apparatus. Subjects sat with their forearms resting parallel on two padded beams. The hands were clamped in place such that the palms faced each other. A splint was attached to the dorsal side of each index finger to isolate movement to the MCP joint. A cable ran from the splint through a pulley system, with a platform that allowed for masses to be added to the assembly. The subject’s view of the hands was blocked by a screen.
