From: Finger Posture and Finger Load are Perceived Independently

Apparatus. Subjects sat with their forearms resting parallel on two padded beams. The hands were clamped in place such that the palms faced each other. A splint was attached to the dorsal side of each index finger to isolate movement to the MCP joint. A cable ran from the splint through a pulley system, with a platform that allowed for masses to be added to the assembly. The subject’s view of the hands was blocked by a screen.
