From: Nanopore sequencing improves the draft genome of the human pathogenic amoeba Naegleria fowleri
Overview of the function of the secreted proteins. Proteins were classified manually based on BLAST similarity and GO annotation to gain an overview of their biological function. Proteins with a hydrolysing activity are the largest group; in total 27 proteases, 8 carbohydrate/peptidoglycan degrading as well as 13 lipid degrading/binding proteins were identified. 66 proteins have similarities to predicted or uncharacterized proteins, while 41 proteins do not have any similarities to known proteins.
