Kinematic assessment during bipedal and quadrupedal treadmill locomotion in healthy and PD rats. (a) Stick diagram, toe trajectory and joint angles (hip, knee, ankle and metatarsophalangeal (MTP)) of healthy rat running freely on treadmill (15 cm/s) for 10 consecutive steps. The shaded region represents the stance phase. The same rat was evaluated during (b) bipedal locomotion and (c) quadrupedal locomotion, while supported by BWS. A different rat with PD was evaluated 3 weeks after 6-OHDA injection also supported by the BWS (d). In all conditions involving BWS up to 20% of the rat’s body weight was supported.
