From: Mapping thermal conductivity across bamboo cell walls with scanning thermal microscopy

Scanning thermal micrographs depicting axial thermal conductivity variations in cross-sections of bamboo fibre cell wall layers. Alternating layers of thick SL||and thin SL⊥ secondary cell walls are observed with higher and lower conductivity, respectively. Micrographs were taken at three different sites (b–d) on a single vascular bundle of bamboo (a). In general, higher output voltage implies lower thermal conductivity.
