The measurement of the valid width of the first metatarsal. The osteotomy line of the medial eminence overlapped with the medial side of the metatarsal shaft. The line that was directed to the fourth metatarsophalangeal joint from the centre of the metatarsal head (1 cm proximal to the articular surface of the first metatarsal head) was drawn. The distance between the centre of the metatarsal head and the lateral cortices in the picture was the valid width of the first metatarsal in our study.
