Each simulation was repeated 50 times, the green dots indicate the mean, the light green area represents the minimum and maximum concentrations from the 50 runs. The black triangle indicates the default value of the parameter. The hatched region indicates the range of DOC concentrations typically observed in the surface ocean, the cross-hatched region indicates typical deep sea DOC values1,34.
