Flow Rate. (A) The pump uses peristaltic motion of rotating ball bearings with silicone tubing to transfer fluid. (B) Flow rate is controlled by varying the rotation speed of the pump, or by varying the diameter of the tubing. (C) Total volume pumped over time with 3 mm OD, 1 mm ID tubing, at four different pump rotation speeds. (D) Total volume pumped over time with 1.59 mm OD, 0.79 mm ID tubing. Traces represent the average results for three independent trials, with error bars representing one standard deviation above and below the mean.
