The scale bar shows the number of substitutions per site. The colours of each accession indicate the sample collection area (Fig. 1); the eastern area of Honshu is red, the western area of Honshu is blue, and Kyushu is green. The right sidebar shows the three major clades divided by the branching pattern of the phylogenetic tree: (A) East-Honshu, (B) West-Honshu, and (C) Kyushu. The midpoint of the longest branch is used as a root.
