In each subplot, the median (red), the first and third quantiles (heights of boxes) and the range of 99.3% of the values (lengths of the whiskers) are shown. For each αij, the pairs of boxplots correspond to one (left; grey) or three (right; blue) environmental factors. Between 46% and 60% of all αij’s are negative, indicating competition.
