  1. Cases No. 1 and No. 2 are two patients whose cases were previously reported15 and from whom HIV could neither be detected by standard PCR assays nor cultured, whereas very small amounts of HIV DNA could be laboriously retrieved from peripheral blood mononuclear cell DNA.
