Putative transmission routes of SRLV subtypes A5, A11 and A22 based on their geographical distribution. The Danubian domestication pathway, corresponding to the Danube River, rises in Germany, flows through different European countries, and finally reaches the Black Sea. The northern Mediterranean pathway comprises Turkey and southern parts of Europe, including Italy. The ancient Fertile Crescent region incorporates Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan (based on Harlan and Zohary57).
