BaP1 up-regulates mPGES-1 protein and gene expression in FLSs. FLSs were incubated with BaP1 (12.5 µg/mL) or RPMI (control) for 15, 30 min, 1, 3 and 6 h. (A) Representative Western blotting of mPGES-1 and β-actin (loading control) showing immunoreactive bands. (B) Densitometric analysis of immunoreactive mPGES-1 bands. (C) Relative gene expression in cells incubated with BaP1 and control cells determined by quantitative PCR. Densities (in arbitrary units) were normalized to β-actin densities. Results are expressed as mean ± SEM of 4–5 samples. *p < 0.05 relative to control; #p < 0.05 relative to BaP1 (1 h); &p < 0.05 relative to BaP1 (1/2 h); +p < 0.05 relative to BaP1 (3 h) (two-way ANOVA, Bonferroni post test).
