Phylogenetic tree of the 59 streptococci genomes, constructed on the basis of the protein sequences of 675 core-genes. The tree is obtained by PhyML using the JTT amino acid substitution model and bootstraping of 100 runs (the bootstrap values are shown in the tree). The scale bar indicates the evolutionary distance between the sequences determined by 0.02 substitutions per amino acid position. The colours in the figure indicates the four different groups of isolates: S. gordonii IE isolates (dark blue), S. gordonii oral isolates (light blue), S. sanguinis IE isolates (dark purple), and the S. sanguinis oral isolates (light purple).
