The alpha-diversity measurements are (a) abundance-based coverage estimator (ACE), (b) Chao1, (c) Fisher, (d) Inverse Simpson (InvSimps), (e) Shannon, and (f) Simpson. Farrowing performance groups were defined based on the best/worst performance of total number born (TNB), number born alive (NBA), number weaned (NW), number born dead (NBD), number of stillborn (NSB), number of piglets mummified (MUM), pre-weaning mortality (PWM), and combination of NBA and NBD (Join). The errors bars correspond to 95% confidence interval. Means lacking common lower- and uppercase letters are statistically different at P < 0.05 and <0.10, respectively.
