The green bar and orange bar represent the rate of change of the maximum abundance ratio when each type of initial abundance increases and decreases by 20%, respectively. The initial abundance levels of P. subcapitata and C. vulgaris were 2.5 × 105 and 2.5 × 106 cells mL−1, respectively. Asterisks indicate that a data point was excluded from the outcome determination owing to severe inhibition of algal growth.
