Exclusions: meningitis, hearing loss, blindness or major visual problems, seizures, cerebral palsy, neurological disorders (such as epilepsy), malignancy, malaria, tuberculosis, hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, cystic fibrosis or haemolytic conditions diagnosed at the 1- or 2-year visits.
