In Eq. 23, Vi+1 (km/h) is the speed of the following vehicle; \({L}_{AB}^{i+1}\) (m) is the distance between the two fixed lines A and B in this figure; and \({t}_{AB}^{i+1}\) (s) is the total time required for the front of the following vehicle (yellow line) to pass through the two red lines in this figure, which is the clock time when the front of the following vehicle passes through the location of red line B minus the clock time when the front of the following vehicle passes through the location of red line A.
