Experimental design and treatment strategy. Mice were subjected to Neocate/LPS gavage feeding followed by hypoxia at 5% for 10 min three times daily for four days. The induction was started on day five p.p. Subjects were treated according to their assigned group with G-CSF (G-CSF and ELANE-KO group) or inactivated G-CSF (control group) via s.c. injections for four days once daily. In order to control for other factors that may influence the pups, excluding the induction paradigm, a sham group was also included.
