In WT plants, DEL1 controls basal SA revels and lignification in galls after RKN attack to balance plant growth and defense (green panel). Excessive SA accumulation and lignification due to misexpression of DEL1 contribute to plant defense after RKN attack, whereas the root growth is inhibited (orange panel).
