From: Experimental demonstration of broadband solar absorption beyond the lambertian limit in certain thin silicon photonic crystals

Figure 2

A computed absorption spectra of a 10 μm-thick silicon Inverted Pyramid (IP) structure at normal incidence. The structure has lattice constant a = 2,500 nm, a single layer ARC (100 nm), a back-side SiO2 buffer layer (100 nm) and a Al back-reflector. The Lambertian absorption (the red curve) and AM1.5G solar radiation spectra are also shown as references. The IP’s absorption approaches the Lambertian curve over the λ ~ 550–900 nm region, slightly exceeds the Lambertian limit over the λ ~ 900–1,000 nm and far exceeds the Lambertian limit over the λ = 1,000–1,200 nm region. The red arrows indicate strong resonance peaks at λ = 1,016, 1,070 and 1,110 nm.
