Multifractal spectra mean (and standard deviations) were calculated from residence-time series data spectra of active (left) or inactive (right) states from multiple wild-type animals in Long- (A), Mid- (B), and Short- (C) activity classes in the high-motility (red circles) or low-motility (blue circles) periods. For egl-4 mutants (D), spectra represent only in high-motility (red circles) time regime. Note that the spectrum width in high-motility period was as narrow as in low-motility period in Short-activity classes, which was due to too short high activity period during the defined high-motility period among animals in Short-activity classes (C). Grey, pink, and brown areas in the graphs indicate the x-axis positions for the global Hurst values of white, pink, and Brown noise, respectively.
