  1. Histopathological analyses were performed in each section from each region for the control (2 regions separated by at least 600 µm) and irradiated (4 regions separated by at least 200 µm) groups. HE (haematoxylin and eosin) staining to evaluate the lesions. Iba-1 (ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1; marker of microglial cells), GFAP (glial fibrillary acidic protein; marker of astrocytes), Act. Casp. 3 (activated caspase 3; marker of apoptosis), and LFB (luxol fast blue; myelin) staining.
