From: Real time monitoring of oxygen uptake of hepatocytes in a microreactor using optical microsensors

Repeated dose experiment applying two concentrations of acetaminophen (12.5 mM and 16 mM) to HepG2 hepatocytes with each exposure lasting for 12 h (period of exposure is indicated by grey background colour). After each exposure, the oxygen uptake of cells fully recovered. The data represented by the dashed line are recorded in two wells that contained only sensor beads and no cells and were located downstream (see Fig. 1) in respect to the wells containing the cells. In wells void of cell located upstream to the wells filled with cells, no decrease of oxygen concentration was observed.
