Schematic illustration and evolutionary analysis of candidate IDS like TPSs in fungi. (A) The canonical ‘DDx2–4D’ and “NSD” triad present in both IDSs and TPSs, respectively. (B) Sequence analysis of fungal IDSs and identification of ones with specific second aspartate rich motif (SARM). The fungal IDS protein sequences were obtained by searching the fungal non-redundant database (taxid:4751) from NCBI followed by HMMER search. SARM in all candidate protein sequences were aligned and analyzed to identify the conserved and unusual motif in these sequences. (C) Phylogenetic analysis of three candidate IDS type TPSs with protein sequences of known FDPSs, GGDPSs, and SPPSs. All sequences were downloaded from the NCBI database and their accession numbers are indicated on the tree.
