Effects of hmxbato on the caspase-9 activity in lung tumor cells. A549 cells were treated with 3.8 µM of hmxbato and detection of the caspase-9 activity was assessed using the Caspase-Glo 9 Assay kit (Promega). The graph shows the luminescence values ​​obtained in a microplate reader, processed and analyzed using the GraphPad Prism software version 6.01. Data were expressed as mean ± standard deviation of experiments performed in triplicate. Three independent experiments were performed. Statistical differences were determined using one-way ANOVA and Tukey's multiple comparison test. Significant differences with respect to control were considered when p < 0.1 (*), p < 0.01 (**), p < 0.001 (***) and p < 0.0001 (****).
