Division of the room in right and left side and regions used to investigate crowd stability and related quantities. In this example the obstacle is at 60 cm from the exit. The semicircular area is used to define participants whom distance ratio and side change ratio is computed (respect to their initial positions). The squared areas on both sides of the obstacle are used to compute velocity and alignment parameters fluctuation.
