Representative cathodoluminescence (CL) images of OTT zircon polished to a depth of (a) ~ 19 μm, (b) ~ 15 μm, (c) ~ 16 μm, and (d) ~ 15 μm. Red circular and blue oval lines indicate spot (shallow and deep) and line-scan (rim) laser pit positions, respectively. CL images were obtained using a Hitachi TM4000Plus electron microscope. Polished depths were calculated by measuring the depths of laser spot before and after polishing using a KEYENCE VK-X 1000 laser scanning confocal microscope. Dark patches shown by arrows are apatite (Ap) inclusions.
