Chronic enteral LPS did not alter the expression of taste genes. Quantitative real-time RT-PCR was used to compare the expression of the umami and sweet taste receptor subunits, T1r1, T1r2, and T1r3; the ENaC (i.e. SCNN1)-a, -b, and -g subunits, and the taste receptor cell marker, K8, in anterior lingual epithelium. Expression levels were normalized to GAPDH. There were no significant differences in the chronic LPS group (n = 4) versus water-gavaged controls (n = 4).
