Note that for the proportion of flowers fertilized and the proportion of fruits infested the sample size do not refer to independent data points and therefore in the statistical analysis the number of flowers/fruits is nested in transect, which is nested in study site. Similarly, for the proportion of ovules fertilized, the sample size refers to the number of ovules nested in fruit, nested in plant, nested in transect, nested in study site. The estimated reproductive output per flower is calculated based on the average number of ovules per fruit (404 ± 7.78) and the respective proportions of flower fertilization, fruit infestation and ovule fertilization.
