From: Early prediction of macrocrack location in concrete, rocks and other granular composite materials
(Color online) Microstructural data were derived from DEM simulations of the experiments of van Vliet and van Mier34 on concrete under uniaxial tension, with attention paid to the mesoscale structure of real concrete. Data at each stage of loading are mapped to flow networks to study energy and force transmission across scales.
