Census counts of planktonic foraminifera in the studied sediment cores (Fig. 1). (A) Counts performed in the surface sediments in the size fraction 150–500 µm at 15 locations. (B) Counts performed on the 10 cores selected for parallel census count and metabarcoding analysis. The cores are grouped according to the faunal signature of the regional hydrography preserved in the sediment. The graphs were generated with R55 using the ggplot2 package59.
