Analysis of hippocampal GABAergic and glutamatergic receptor expression in NOVX and OVX animals following pilocarpine treatment. GABAergic and glutamatergic receptor expression was decreased in OVX animals treated with pilocarpine 90 min after status epilepticus (SE) onset. No changes were noted in parvalbumin receptor expression that could be linked to SE. (a) Metabotropic glutamate receptor 2/3 (mGluR2/3) expression. (b) GABAB receptor expression. (c) Parvalbumin receptor expression. CTR: Control; NOVX: Non-ovariectomised animals; OVX: Ovariectomised animals. β-Actin was used for normalisation. All hippocampal samples were run through the gel simultaneously (uncropped gels are presented in Supplementary Information B as Figures S1S3). Data are presented as mean ± SD. Levels marked with asterisk (*) indicate significant differences: *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001.
