The unusual product of electrolysis at 670 °C in a mixed 50% Li2CO3/50% Na2CO3 relative wt% electrolyte: carbon nano-scaffolds. A scheme of the electrolysis cell is shown in A, and in B are shown the 5 cm x 5 cm Muntz brass cathode and Inconel 718 anode electrodes before and after electrolysis. The electrolyte consisted of 250 g of Na2CO3, 250 g of Li2CO3, and 50 g of H3BO3. The electrolysis was conducted at a current density of 0.2 A/cm2 at 670 °C for 4.0 h.
