Seed pixel correlation mapping during resting state. Resting state spontaneous activity was band pass filtered. To create seed pixel correlation maps, the cross correlation coefficient r values (represented in color) between the temporal profiles of one selected pixel and all the others of the ROI were calculated. (A) Schematic of the murine cortical regions imaged in the present mapping. (B) Representative examples of seed pixel correlation maps (averaged from n = 9 mice and Fisher Z-transformed) for seed pixels localized in right areas V1 and PM before ONC (baseline, d-2) and 31 days after (these four examples correspond to the images within the four white squares in C). (C) Averaged seed pixel correlation maps of 20 different locations (black circles) before and after the ONC (y-axis, d-2 to d31). Correlation values were Fisher Z-transformed and displayed between z = 0 and z = 1.5 corresponding approximately to r = 0.91. V1 primary visual cortex; A, AM, PM, LM, RL anterior, anteromedial, posteromedial, lateromedial and rostrolateral regions of the secondary visual cortex; AC anterior cingulate cortex; BC somatosensory cortex barrel cortex, M1 primary motor cortex, HL hindlimb sensory cortex, RS retrosplenial cortex, V1 primary visual cortex.
