(A) Darkfield images were utilized to reveal the detailed neuroanatomy by the contrast between myelinated tracts/areas and grey matter. (B) Brightfield photomicrographs of identical sections revealed c-Fos-ir nuclei; (C) the darkfield photomicrographs were used to precisely outline regions of interest (ROI).
